Chocolate + Cinnamon = Best Friends Forever

I, unlike most women, am not a chocoholic. However, chocolate is always hard for me to resist when it's coupled with the warm flavor and fragrance of cinnamon. Yum. Below is a chocolate butter cake with luxuriously smooth cinnamon pastry cream, enjoyed for a November birthday.

Imagine how difficult it is for me not to eat all of the cinnamon pastry cream right out of the bowl! The design on this cake, geared toward fall colors on a light chocolate buttercream, was inspired by a beautiful print from a coffee mug. Inspiration comes from everywhere!

Unfortunately, the deadline has passed to order a cake for Christmas, but you can always consider ringing in the New Year with something sweet from Pure Bliss Confections!

Apple Tarts

I love tarts, if you didn't already know. They're beautiful, and always seem just a little more feminine, a little lighter, and a just a bit french. I made a delicious apple tart for our Thanksgiving celebration. I used the best Golden Delicious and Cortland apples and they did not disappoint. I'm not one who thinks apple pastries should be relegated to the summer and fall. We should enjoy these goodies all year long!
With perfectly ripe apples, a dusting of sugar, a lightly sweet and buttery crust, and hey, a nice dollop of vanilla whipped cream, there will be thanksgiving for this tart any day of the year.

Thanksgiving with Cupcakes

Nothing says "I appreciate you" quite like tasty treats. Consider treating your co-workers or friends with cupcakes for a birthday, holiday celebration or to brighten up a Monday!
Who would turn down a cutie like this? Add a flower or note for extra personality.

Did someone say German Chocolate??

Indeed, someone did. This light chocolate cake covered in gooey and sweet pecan-y goodness tops quite a few favorite lists.

Speaking of favorites, featured below is someone-near-and-dear-to-me's favorite pie, Key Lime. I have a feeling that this pie, with its perfect, buttery graham cracker crust and creamy and delectable key lime filling topped with light meringue is a favorite of many of yours as well. And if it's not, maybe you should give this pie a try! You'll be headed to Florida to pick your own key limes in no time!

Blossoms for Every Season

I made this Pear Blossom cake last spring to celebrate the new season. The sugar flowers are as yummy as they are pretty. I have also adapted this cake with bright colors for summer and orange to welcome fall, making this cake infinitely customizable for your event.
The blossom cake is simply beautiful with a touch of whimsy. Imagine your favorite colors in bloom.

A Little Mocha

Yesterday, I delivered the birthday cake for Covenant Classical School's monthly celebration. I knew the cake was good, but the reception was even better than I could have expected. Of course, top anything with chocolate-covered coffee beans, and you're going to get a favorable response.

This is a 10" vanilla buttermilk cake with espresso pastry cream filling and mocha buttercream. Yum!

Little Cakes

Six inch cakes are a joy forever. Have them for a "smash" cake, an intimate party, or (just between us) a party of one. Even a small celebration calls for dessert!

Cho-co-late.

Apparently, people like it. Here's a little more birthday via the double chocolate cake. This design is even more stunning in black and white.

All You Need Are Tarts

I love a great celebratory cake, but if you want something a little different, a little French, and a little extra fancy, consider having a tart instead!

Below is an extraordinary Pear Tart with Almond Cream. The cream is rich, the crust is slightly sweet and the combination with the pear lets you know this tart is extra special.

The next tart may not look like much, but the moment the rich cream enters your mouth, you'll know it was meant to be. A Lemon Cream tart, this delectable pastry was my very own birthday "cake" and it did not disappoint! Have this for dessert and you will make any old day a special occasion.
Perfect in the summer, the next tart has a foundation of luxurious vanilla bean pastry cream and is topped with loads of fresh berries and a sweet fruit glaze. Casual or fancy, this will make your next seasonal party a big hit!

So, you say you like chocolate?

As requested, here are two layers of double chocolate cake with super rich and yummy ganache inside and out. For you chocolate lovers, this is it. Happy birthday to you all.

And happy birthday to my mother, who will hopefully devour a big piece of this little beauty tomorrow.

Birthdays and Everydays

I have had a lot of opportunities lately to bake for family and friends. Below, for you gluten-free folks, is a wonderfully dense and luscious Flourless Chocolate Torte. Fantastic with a glass of milk or an espresso and some ripe berries.

I make pies, too! Here is a velvety smooth Banana Cream Pie with a slightly sweet, flaky crust.

Featured below is one of my husband's personal favorites, a triple layer Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting.

And in this little box...

you'll find twenty Strawberry and Chocolate-Cinnamon cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream and Vanilla Marshmallow Fondant, perfect for any bowling alley birthday party. Happy Birthday, Sadie!
Cupcakes are so easy to personalize and so good to eat! What can we bake to make your next party extra special?

Cupcakes

I've had a great time making and decorating cupcakes. Generally, they're created to use up leftover buttercream or cake batter and sent to my husband's workplace or my mother's school. However they come about, individually portioned, very tasty cakes are always a hit and a great addition to any day.
